Quinte Pediatrics Association is already ahead of the game for Safe Kids’ concussion safety week.
Prior to the minor league football’s start, they made it a requirement for their athletes to participate in ImPACT Concussion Testing. This identifies a “baseline brain”, and makes it easier to identify a concussion if it occurs. It uses simple tests including matching games and memory, two skills that are affected when a concussion happens.

A nationwide movement, called the Commuter Challenge, is being hosted in Belleville from June 2-8. It is an event sponsored by the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Centre (HPECHU), and supported by Belleville on Bikes, a local biking group who strives for a safer town for bikers.

The “invisible injury” of Quinte brought to light

Heads up! Quinte’s Health Centre is participating in Safe Kids week, which is focusing on teaching the community how to avoid, identify and treat concussions.
The movement was started by Parachute, which aims for “an injury free Canada”. The organization works to protect Canadian citizens across all age groups. According to their website, www.parachutecanada.org…, injuries account for over 70 per cent of youth deaths.

The Glanmore house has been a sturdy symbol of Belleville for 130 long years.
