BELLEVILLE – A Campbellford woman says the past three months she’s spent trying to establish herself as an entrepreneur, have been the most rewarding months of her life.

“I went from working 40-60 hours a week at a job that I felt was draining the life out of me, to working from home on my own schedule creating an income (that’s) much more appealing,” said Amanda Townsend, the owner and operator of bizbitch.com [2].

Bizbitch is a website where she offers other woman advice and assistance in building their own business through social media.

“I assist them with creating strategies to help them utilize social media platforms to make sales,” said the 31-year-old entrepreneur.

Townsend attended Loyalist College and graduated from the child and youth care program. After working in her field as a child and youth worker for years and even making it up in the ranks to a managerial level, she said she had a desire to do more. That’s when her journey to being her own boss began.

Her first job, after quitting child care, was working from home for a company called beachbody.com [3]. It’s a company that sells health products to help people get in shape.

“Within two years of being partnered with an amazing company I had ranked in the top 0.1% of the company simply by sharing products via social media and sharing the life changing effects they had on me both physically, mentally, and definitely financially,” she said.

Townsend said that after her success with Beachbody she had a passion and desire for more. She decided to use her knowledge of networking and sales to branch out on her own.

“I knew I had the ability to grow an online business, and being partnered with a company gave me great rewards. However, personally, the real reward would come from helping others find the same success that I had,” she said.

“That’s when I decided to launch my own business that was 100% mine. My products, my services, and my legacy,” she said.

“I came across an opportunity that peeked my interest not because of the financial opportunity, but rather for the benefits of health”, she said.

Townsend launched the Bizbitch website in September 2017.

She offers services that include: one-on-one mentorship, training courses and selling branded products.

“Ultimately I teach women how to generate an income online,” she said.

She says that she is enjoying her new way of life as an entrepreneur, and truly likes having an opportunity to help change lives.

“The biggest reward was when I found my own voice, my own successes, and stopped comparing myself to those around me,” she said.

Townsend said that finding the courage to start wasn’t easy. She said putting herself out there to take a risk on an opportunity when she had zero guarantee of income or success, was a big decision.

“Honestly, I think there are risks with every decision we make,” she said.
