BELLEVILLE – Tanya Granic Allen, a candidate for the leadership of Ontario’s Conservatives, will make a stop at the Slapshot Bar and Grill in Belleville from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Allen is a newcomer to politics, but she is known for fighting changes made by Ontario’s Liberal government to the sexual-education curriculum in schools. She was president of the parents’ group Parents As First Educators, which describes itself as a leader “in the fight against radical sex-ed curriculum in Ontario.”
In the first TV debate by the Conservative leadership candidates, held last Thursday in Toronto, Allen said she is “not a single-policy candidate,” but changing the sex-ed curriculum is her priority.
Fellow PC leadership candidate Christine Elliott visited Trenton on Sunday and talked about local health care and reducing hydro bills.
Another candidate, former Toronto councillor Doug Ford, was in Belleville on Tuesday. During his meet and greet he focused on cutting the carbon tax, giving more jobs to the “grassroots” and saving taxpayers’ money.
