Harvest festival returns to downtown Belleville

By Austin McKay

The Flavours of Fall harvest festival is back again this year in the heart of downtown Belleville on Saturday October 1.

The festival will be running from around 10 a.m. until around 3 p.m. with a variety of free activities and events. Popular attractions will include the Cow Milking simulator and the mechanical bull, which will be located inside the Memorial Arena.

Pumpkins will be the inspiration behind the food challenge that will be happening at the festival. Eleven people from 10 restaurants will have to make a dish using pumpkins as the main ingredient.

This will be the fourth straight year for the festival in Belleville but first in the downtown area. The switch has made by the city to bring more attractions and events to excite the downtown more.

After three years of running, organizers hope for around 5,000 people to come check out the fall harvest event. Parking is free for everyone.
