BELLEVILLE – The cyclist killed along Highway 62 last weekend has been identified.

Seventeen year old Sara Sylvia Holton was hit by a car while cycling in Prince Edward County this past Sunday.

Her parents, Dr. Kristin Morrison and Dr. Gord Holton, shared some words about their daughter’s passing on Facebook.

“Kristin and I are working our way through this now, but it is going to be a struggle for both of us,” Holton wrote.

Sara Holton was a long time student at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada [2].

“Sara unwaveringly worked towards her dream of becoming a professional ballerina,” her parents said in the post.

“All the world is a stage…Sara wanted to dance ballet on that stage. All the time you love dance, to perform, or to watch, we’ll feel that a little bit of Sara dances on,” they continued.

QNet News contacted Quinte Ballet. They referred us to their Facebook post about the tragedy.

In it, they said her loss had overwhelmed their hearts with grief and they sent out their support for her family.

The fatal accident took place about noon at the intersection of Highway 62 and Union Road on Sunday, according to the Prince Edward County OPP.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police said.

“The driver involved was not at fault,” Holton’s family said.
