BELLEVILLE – A 26-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested with what police thought was a gun early Wednesday morning.

Belleville police received a call about a man yelling around Dundas Street West and the Bay Bridge area at 1:45 a.m.

When officers arrived, the man was on the roof of a Dundas Street West building. After police talked to the man, he threw what looked like a gun to the ground.

Officers negotiated with the man. When he finally came down, he was immediately arrested. The gun turned out to be a replica pellet gun.

Police charged him with two counts of breach of probation, one count of possession of a weapon while prohibited and one count of possessing a dangerous weapon.

Further investigation revealed that the man is wanted in by Peel Regional Police for mischief over $5,000. He is also wanted by Peterborough Police for criminal harassment, fail to comply with probation, and uttering threats.

He will appear at the court for a bail hearing on October 10.
