BELLEVILLE – Operation Red Nose  [2]will be starting its program on Friday.

It is a free December-only designated driver program. If you are drunk or sleepy, a three-person driving team will be dispatched to pick you, your passengers and your car up to get home safely.

People can call 613-962-4334 and a team will be sent. A volunteer will drive the caller home in his or her car, while another volunteer follows in a separate vehicle to bring back the first driver.

This year the program has moved to its new home in the Avaya Building on Sidney Street. The honorary chairpeople for 2018 are Sean Kelly [3] and Orlena Cain of the Mix 97 radio station. The chairman of operations of Red Nose Quinte, Rick Watt, told QNet News that having two celebrities will have a nice impact on the operation and it helps to spread awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.

This is the 15th year for the program in this area, Watt said.

Operation Red Nose Quinte will run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings until New Year’s Eve.
