Belleville G1 driver caught with two different licence plates

By Sarah Law [1]

BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man has been charged with multiple offences after police caught him driving a car with two different licence plates on Purdy Street. [2]

The 54-year-old was pulled over on Sunday around 9:30 p.m. when police noticed the two different plates. They then learned that he only had a G1 licence and no insurance.

A G1 driver must be accompanied by someone who has had their full licence for at least four years, according to the Ontario government’s website. [3] They also cannot drive with any amount of alcohol in their blood, be on the road between midnight and 5 a.m., or drive on 400-series highways or high-speed expressways without a certified driving instructor.

Police seized the plates, towed the vehicle and issued the man a summons to court for February.
