New detachment commander for Northumberland OPP

BELLEVILLE – There will be a new detachment commander for the Northumberland OPP.

Rose DiMarco, chief superintendent and regional commander of the Ontario Provincial Police [2] central region, announced Tuesday that Insp. Brian O’Halloran will become the detachment commander effective Feb. 11.

He will replace Insp. Lisa Darling, who held the position before becoming detachment commander in Peterborough in December. 

O’Halloran started his policing career in 1990 with the Metro Toronto Police Service [3] and transferred to the OPP in February 1997, according to the the OPP’s press release.

He has worked in numerous areas of policing, including general patrol, the major crimes unit and as a detective before becoming the deputy director of the Investigation and Enforcement Bureau of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

O’Halloran has been a resident of the Northumberland County for over 30 years, according to the press release.
