BELLEVILLE – City council agreed to raise the fees of tobacco licences for retailers on Monday in an effort to gain revenues and strengthen enforcement.
The decision wasn’t talked about inside council chambers and because it wasn’t disputed the vote for the increased fees was unanimous.
QNet news reached out to some local stores but was unsuccessful in getting any feed back.
In November the Canadian Cancer Society [2] a formal letter to all municipalities of Ontario including, Belleville.
According to the letter released from the Canadian Cancer Society, four main reasons why municipalities should implement retail.: increase revenues, assist with enforcement, ensure responsibility, and recover costs for enforcement, along with collecting litter.
