Student Success holds Trick-or-Treat event at Loyalist College

“I think it was a lot of fun. The learning for me was that we definitely had to be more proactive,” said Aaron Doupe, the director of Student Success. [1] He said it was similar to last year where Student Success were going out to students and promoting the event. Photo By Brock Butler QNet News

BELLEVILLE – Student Success [1] at Loyalist College [3] held a Trick-or-Treat event with a purpose on Wednesday.

“It’s a chance for us to share what’s happening, upcoming events and just getting people in our spaces so that they know where they can access services and supports,” said Aaron Doupe, the director of Student Success.

The event started off slow but promising as students came up to the Hub to get the bags for collecting treats. Doupe and other Student Success staff fanned out across the college to get more students to participate. One of Doupe’s goals for the event was to get a couple hundred students to participate and enjoy the event for the hour they had.

Many students came and participated getting a bag, a list of locations around the college to go to and a bit of candy to start them off for their trick-or-treating hour.

Amanda Watt, student in the Film and Television production – Interactive Media Development Program, said she thought it was really fun.

“It’s a good way to get people to know where everything is. Student Success has done a lot of great things for this school,” she said.

“I think it’s a cool little thing to do with a few friends,” Watt said. She also mentioned that “They could do something Christmas-themed.” Photo By Brock Butler QNet News

Ian Childs, a second-year student in the Film and Television Production – Interactive Media Development Program, said he enjoyed the event.

“Absolutely I’d do it again if it happens next year.”
