BELLEVILLE – Online reporting is the safest way to report minor crimes, according to the OPP.
The OPP [2] says that an increased use of online reporting will allow frontline officers to focus efforts on urgent calls and crime prevention.
There were over two million non-emergency 911 calls last year, half of those calls were not responded to.
Police say the following non-emergency situations should be reported online:
- Theft under $5,000;
- Mischief /damage to property under $5000;
- Mischief /damage to vehicle under $5000;
- Theft from vehicle;
- Lost / missing property under $5000;
- Stolen license plates; and
- Driving complaints (after the occurrence)
