Glanmore by Gaslight tours start this week

BELLEVILLE – A historic house in Belleville is taking visitors back to a 19th-century Christmas in a special tour.

Starting Wednesday at 7 p.m., Glanmore National Historic Site [2] will be hosting guided tours through the freshly decorated house by gaslight.

Glanmore was built in 1882-83 for a wealthy banker and his wife, and was opened as a museum in 1973 by the City of Belleville.

After Wednesday there will be two other tours: Tuesday, Dec. 10, and Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Traditional holiday refreshments will be served after the tour.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. The tours are not recommended for children under five, according to Glanmore’s website. Tickets are available for purchase in person or online [3]. Calling in advance is best because tickets tend to sell out fast, the website says.
