BELLVILLE – Local indie rock band Arm’s Length’s [2] new single Garamond [3] has made it onto the official Spotify [4]-curated playlist New Punk Tracks. [5]

The band comprises two singing guitarists, Allen Steinberg and Jeremy Whyte, and drummer Jeff Whyte. All three are from Quinte West.

“It feels surreal. This is something we’ve never experienced as a band. While I wouldn’t say we’ve ‘made it’ in any sense, this gives us a glimpse into what’s to come,” said Steinberg.

To get your music on a Spotify editorial playlist [6], an artist has to submit their upcoming music for consideration, according to its website. From there, it’s in the hands of the people that curate the playlists to decide whether or not an artist’s song will make the cut.

Their first new song in over a year, Garamond, was released on Feb. 3. It was first on YouTube, then on other streaming platforms, like Spotify and Apple Music, the next day at midnight.

The music video sits on YouTube with more than 18,000 views and 1,400 likes. Singer and guitarist for Arm’s Length, Allen Steinberg said it’s set to be the band’s biggest song yet.

“Maybe expect us to play Coachella soon,” he says jokingly. Coachella is a major music festival held annually in California.

Their next single, “No Sleep,” will be released on Feb. 17, with the six-song EP, Everything Nice, following shortly after on Feb. 25.

The band says that this upcoming project will be more catchy and hard-hitting.

“Fans can expect better production. It’s a different sound, more polished and poppier,” drummer Jeff Whyte says about the new songs.

“I think we grew as artists, just like Jeremy said. We learned more about how to write a song,” Steinberg says.
