BELLEVILLE – In less than three weeks, all staff and students at Loyalist College must be fully immunized.

Loyalist College has implemented a policy [2] that requires all on campus staff and students to be fully vaccinated by Nov. 1.

Due to the waiting period between doses and after both doses have been taken, it is important for staff and students to get this process started as soon as possible. In order to make the deadline, individuals must take the second dose no later than Oct. 18.

The policy was announced on Aug. 17, giving employees and students a two and a half month warning period to take action.

This mandate was sent out during the summer before the fall semester started; however, the deadline is soon approaching for those who have not gotten their two doses.

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health [3] says that those whose first dose was Moderna must wait 28 days before getting their second dose and those whose first dose was Pfizer must wait 21 days before getting their second dose.

Furthermore, after both doses have been received, the individual must wait 14 days before they are considered fully immunized by the college.

Until Nov. 1, there will continue to be a rapid testing station for all those who are not fully vaccinated.

After the deadline, if employees of students are not fully vaccinated, they will not be allowed in the school unless a formal exemption has been given.
