By Harrison Perkins

The Prince Edward Health Unit has confirmed its first lab-tested case of influenza in the region.

Carol Snell, Media Relations Consultant for the Hastings and Prince Edward Health Unit, she says that the best way to fight the flu is to get the flu shot.

“The health unit conducts specific flu clinics earlier in the year but we also have our regular immunization clinics that run year round.” Snell said.

Flu shots are free for anyone who works, lives or goes to school in Ontario. To see a schedule of the clinics, visit www.yourhealthunit.ca [1].

Symptoms very from person to person but the can include extreme weakness, headaches, fever, chills, stuffy nose and more.

The virus usually last anywhere from 2 to 7 days, sometimes longer Snell notes.
