Loyalist students in the art and design foundation program Tuesday night will get their chance to show the community their hard work has paid off.
There will be 53 student submissions in the program’s third annual art exhibit. The show starts at 6 pm, and runs until April 17.
“I think the community really needs to understand that what we do here, and what Loyalist provides here is important,” said Ricarda Forbes, student curator.
Included in the submissions is photography, sculpture, painting, ink and graphics.
“Whatever we felt we maybe pushed ourselves to do, or were really proud of it, or something that we never really do but we got a really good result,” said Forbes. “It’s pretty much what anybody was really proud of that they’ve done in the year.”
Forbes is helping to organize the event this year, along with fellow students Elisha Jonkers, and Natalie Fields.
“This isn’t just one person, that’s the great thing about AADF [Art and Design Foundation]. We all like each other, which is fun and awesome. So everybody just kind of wants to work together,” said Forbes.
Jonkers and Forbes both felt it was a great way to show how much the program prepared them.
“It’s really inspiring being around creative people,” said Forbes. “It’s awesome being around people who get excited about the same stuff you do.”
Most of the submissions are assignments that were done throughout the year, with a couple that were made specifically for the exhibit.
“It’s just a really good opportunity to see another side of the art world,” said Forbes. “We have put so much work into the pieces. We have put so much thought and care.”
