A world of musical instruments will take over Stage Red, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Saturday night.

“It is going to be one of the biggest concerts this season,” said Kim Maracle, part owner of Stage Red. “A huge bus of musicians from all over the globe and all nations are coming to perform.”

Sotsumo, Iven Simonetti and Sandra Taylor are amongst the artists arriving from Musideum, Richmond Street, Toronto.

“David (Maracle) and I have talked about doing a concert like this for years. We are not that far apart but far enough for some people,” said Donald Quan, owner of Musideum. “So I am bringing Toronto to Tyendinaga.”

Quan says he has performed around the world and has not found a place like Musideum anywhere. He wants to spread the word.

Four years ago, with over 500 instruments, Quan opened up Musideum and describes it as “a magical room where music is shared.”

A multi-instrumentalist, composer and score producer, Quan has received four Gemini nominations. He has been collecting rare and unusual instruments since he was 10 years old. “I have a ton and you won’t find guitars or bass in that collection, they are all considered unusual by most,” said Quan.

For the past year, Musideum has been the venue for over 200 intimate concerts performed by musicians of all cultures and genres. More than 20 will perform Saturday night.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. and tickets are available in advance for $15 or at the door for $20.
