One picture can say a thousand words. The Quinte Photography club also proved that one picture can bring in money for a worthy cause.
“The more I can get my people out taking pictures of the community, the more the community will benefit from it,” said Brad Denoon, the leader of the Quinte Photography club.
The Quinte Photography club attended the Ride for Hunger, Sunday May 19. Ride for Hunger is a charity event, founded by the Early Treatment Centre of Belleville. Its goal is to raise money for the Gleaner’s Food Bank.
This will be the first year that the Quinte Photography club will be selling their photos to raise even more money for the cause.
The photography club has been present since the event started four years ago, recording the memories that were made as hundreds of motorcycles lap through Quinte.
The motorcyclists register online with the Ride for Hunger website, showing up on the day of for some pre-ride coffee before heading out on the roads.
This year, 210 motorcyclists attended the event, raising $3,200, according to Gleaner’s Food Bank. This is a lower number from last year, but Denoon said that everyone that showed up had a great time.
Denoon has his photographers positioned along the roads, prepped to capture the perfect shot.
“The Ride for Hunger came along as another great thing we can get involved with, and it has taken root. It’s become a yearly thing with the club, everyone looks forward to it,” said Denoon. He said his club loves the opportunity to learn in ‘real’ time.
This year, he had 15 photographers, compared to the nine he had last year. He is extremely proud of his club.
The pictures the club takes are available for purchasing. Those who are interested in a photo can download it from Denoon’s website, and then make a donation to Gleaner’s Food Bank.
“None of my people want money for their pictures, they’re doing it strictly for the community,” said Denoon.
