A 42-year-old Tamworth man was arrested on Sept. 23 for breach of condition charges. Quinte West OPP officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Byron Street. Police spoke to a male and female who were in the vehicle. After a brief investigation, police found that the male driver had been recently released from custody with conditions by Kingston police. One of the conditions was that he was not to be with the woman who was sitting in the passenger seat. His bail hearing was held Sept. 24.
Quint West OPP is currently investigating a break and enter on Bernard Long Road. Sometime between Sept. 22 and 23, unknown suspect(s) allegedly entered a barn and shed and took a number of tools, totaling approximately $2,500. Police are continuing to investigate a collision that took place Sept. 24. Police responded to an accident on Church Street and Victoria Avenue. A vehicle had collided with a city bus. The vehicle had to be towed, but there were no reported injuries.
Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a three-vehicle accident on Dundas Street West. One vehicle had to be towed, but there were no reported injuries. Investigation is continuing.
A 21-year-old Belleville man was arrested Wednesday for outstanding warrants. He was charged for theft under $5,000, threats, and three counts of failing to appear in court. His bail hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
In other news:
On Wednesday afternoon, Belleville police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Bell Boulevard at the Quinte Mall. A 29-year-old male was alleged to be operating a stolen 2002 Chevy Suburban when it collided with a car and a hydro pole. The vehicle was reported stolen from Napanee the previous day. The truck failed to remain at the scene of the accident and continued to head westbound on Bell Boulevard. The pursuit was discontinued due to high speeds. The man then took the Hwy. 401 eastbound before abandoning the vehicle in Kingston. Kingston police arrested him at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The driver is facing a number of charges for this incident including: possession of stolen property, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, flight from police, dangerous driving, and driving while prohibited. He also faces charges from another stolen vehicle from Sept. 15. These charges include: break and enter, theft, theft from a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and driving while prohibited.
He faces additional charges from an incident on Sept. 23, at approximately 11 p.m. An officer on patrol was following the stolen Suburban from a distance on College Street East. The truck sped away but was not pursued. These charges include: flight from police, driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property. The bail hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
