BELLEVILLE – The Prince Edward County OPP has called off the search for a Wellington boater missing for almost three weeks.
Gordon Alexander “Sandy” Rutherford, 54, went missing during an afternoon of fishing on Oct.19 on West Lake, about 40 kilometres south of Belleville.
Numerous volunteers, friends and family of Rutherford helped with search efforts. Other search members included the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre from Canadian Forces Base Trenton, the Wellington Coast Guard auxiliary, OPP marine officers, the OPP underwater search and recovery unit, OPP emergency response team members, the OPP canine unit and members of the OPP Prince Edward County detachment.
The OPP said they appreciate the assistance of everyone who helped in the search. Anyone with information that may assist in the case is asked to contact Prince Edward County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
