BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College president Maureen Piercy’s term has been extended for five years, the college’s board of governors said Thursday night.

Piercy has been the president of the college since 2005. Since her appointment, the college has undergone a massive expansion of its facilities such as the opening of the Sustainable Skills, Technology, and Life Sciences Centre and the Digital Media Centre, and construction of townhouse-style residences.

In a news release, board chair Tamara Kleinschmidt praised Piercy’s accomplishments as president over the past nine years.

“Maureen is an outstanding leader who has developed strong relationships both inside and outside the college,” Kleinschmidt said.

Piercy said in the news release that she looks forward to working with the college and community further.
