Update on Lancers varsity teams

BELLEVILLE – This time of year is an active one for varsity sports at Loyalist.

Women’s soccer at Loyalist recently come to a close with a 3-0 loss in the playoff game against the Humber Hawks last Sunday. At the same time, many sports at Loyalist are just beginning.

The men’s basketball team had its first game of the season on Tuesday. The team lost the away game 69-62  against Durham College.

The next game is being played at Loyalist on Sunday against Georgian College at 3:00 p.m.

The Loyalist Lancers women’s basketball team also lost its first game 74-45 against Durham College on Tuesday.

The women play their first home game this upcoming Sunday against Georgian at 1 p.m.

Then there’s volleyball. Loyalist’s women’s team played its first game Wednesday against Fleming College. Loyalist won three sets to one.

The team’s next game is on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at Durham.

The men played their first volleyball game of the season at home against Fleming College and lost 3-1.

The men play next at Durham College on Thursday Oct. 30 at 8:00 p.m.

The women’s soccer is not the only team to finish its season for the year. The Loyalist Lancers women’s rugby team did not make the playoffs and played its last game of the season at South Nepean Park against Algonquin last Sunday. The girls lost 32-15.

The Loyalist men’s rugby team also played its last game against Algonquin on Sunday and lost 60-5.

Also, the season for cross country has yet to begin this year. Dates and locations for upcoming meets have not been determined yet.
