BELLEVILLE – Belleville’s police chief is no longer Cory McMullan – she is Cory MacKay.

MacKay changed her name when she was married on Oct. 4, she said in an email late Monday afternoon.

MacKay said she and her new husband, who is Belleville businessman Bill MacKay, met each other through the Rotary Club. The wedding took place at the Belleville Club.

“We were able to celebrate this day with our families and close friends,” Cory MacKay told QNet News.

They have already taken a week off for a honeymoon.

“The best thing to say is that we were able to take a little bit of time off work and celebrate our marriage,” she said.

Her staff  and the police service board have been notified about the change in her name, she said.

“You have to go through the process,” she added, laughing.
