Quinte Conservation hosts wild bird education night

By Michelle Poirier [1]

BELLEVILLE – Learn how and what to feed the birds that visit your backyard at a seminar Tuesday night.

Feeding Wild Birds Information Night [2] is part of Quinte Conservation [3]‘s monthly seminars.

The guest of honour is birding expert Terry Sprague, a local naturalist who runs Nature Stuff [4], a website about nature in the Quinte region.

Jennifer May-Anderson, communications manager at Quinte Conservation, said she thought this was a good time of the year to talk about feeding wild birds.

“A lot of people have questions about it. It’s a very popular pastime. And Terry Sprague…is very knowledgeable about the subject. And we thought it was a good time and a good idea to bring people together to learn more about it,” May-Anderson said.

Setting up bird feeders can help birds in the winter month,s when it is hard for them to find their own food.

“You can get a lot of different species to your feeder in Belleville,” May-Anderson said.

The event takes at Quinte Conservation’s offices at 2061 Old Highway 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
