Students push to eat healthy even when school hits hard

By Greg Murphy [1]

BELLEVILLE – QNet News spoke with Loyalist College students Monday to learn how coping with stress affects their eating habits.

Students told us that stress does play into what they eat but most said they still choose to make the effort to buy healthy foods from local grocery stores every week.

Food at the college is generally more expensive than at the grocery store. But when it’s time to hit the books, convenience is key – which means students will pay more to get food closer to home during a busy day.

We are looking to speak to medical officer of health Dr. Richard Schabas [2] at the Hastings and Prince Edward Hastings Counties Health Unit [3] to learn why stress affects the way we eat and where students can go to buy healthy food while saving money.

More to come.
