BELLEVILLE – Central Hastings OPP have laid 26 charges as part of its distracted driving campaign.
The campaign is actually happening province-wide. It began on March 14, and will continue until Friday.
According to the OPP, distracted driving has been the leading cause in fatal collisions for the past six years bypassing impaired driving. So far in 2015, this pattern has continued.
A texting driver is 23 times more likely to crash than a non-texting driver, according to police.
OPP are reminding drivers to stay focused on the road and not on their handheld devices.
