Sears National Kids Cancer Ride stops in Belleville

By Candice-Rose Gagnon [1]

BELLEVILLE – Two teams of bike riders crossing the country to raise money for children’s cancer stopped in Belleville yesterday.

The annual National Cancer Ride, sponsored by Sears Canada, is a fundraiser that raises money for children affected by cancer. 100 per cent of funds raised are used for improving the life of children.

Kingston resident Ken Cross is riding across the country for the fifth time. He says he is riding for his daughter who has recovered from cancer, and other children who inspire him.

Riders traveled for five hours straight, and stopped in Belleville for a rest period. They continue to Montreal this morning, and will arrive in Halifax on Sept. 26.

More to come.
