BELLEVILLE – The manager of Quinte West’s economic development and tourism services has won an award for her work.

This month, the Ontario East Economic Development Commission [2] recognized Linda Lisle as the Business Development Bank of Canada Economic Developer of the Year for her role in the economic development of Quinte West.

The award is given annually to someone in Eastern Ontario who has provided noteworthy work in the economic development sector. The Kingston-based economic development commission promotes the region as a good place for investment opportunities. It represents over 200 communities with more than two million residents.

Lisle was nominated for the award by the Quinte Economic Development Commission [3]. Chris King, chief executive officer of the organization, says Lisle nomination was in recognition of the accomplishments of her and her department.

Lisle’s department is also in charge of organizing festivals and events in the community, including Canada Day celebrations, the Scottish Irish Festival [8] and the Bay of Quinte Road Race [9].

The new businesses and companies that have come to Trenton means more employment opportunities for residents, King noted.

“It’s all about improving the economy, improving opportunities for the people that live in the city and the region. As more businesses come in there are more job opportunities.”
