BELLEVILLE – After the Liberals won [3] the ridings in the Quinte region [4] and with Justin Trudeau [5] now as our prime minister, many local residents have said they are happy with this turn of events.

Two Belleville residents shared their opinions with QNet News. One man said he is hopeful that this change will be good for Canada and the other said he is interested to see how it turns out:

“I’m actually pretty happy,” said Andrea Letander-Trudeau, a First Nations student in the Developmental Services Worker program at Loyalist College.

There were more First Nations people voting in this election than any previous election because they wanted change, she said:

Some of the people whom QNet News talked to said they were happy that the Liberals had won a majority government. But several said they did not vote or care.

“I never have voted and never will,” said one woman who declined to give her name.

Another woman said she did not vote because she did not want to drag her kids around.
