BELLEVILLE – Ten aboriginal MPs were elected to the House of Commons in last week’s federal election, setting a new record for the number of indigenous Canadians sitting in parliament.

Eight of the ten MPs are in the Liberal caucus. The remaining two are NDP.

The 2011 election saw seven aboriginal people win a seat.

QNet News will speak to indigenous people in the Quinte area for reaction.
