Ontario beating the silent killer with Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week

By Jayvon Lake [1]

BELLEVILLE – Ontario is running an awareness campaign about carbon monoxide [2], also known as the silent killer.

The first week of November is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. With the campaign, the province is aiming to increase awareness of the importance of having carbon-monoxide alarms installed.

Carbon monoxide is a colourless, tasteless and odourless gas produced when fuels  such as propane, gasoline and natural gas have insufficient air to burn completely.

Symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure include headaches, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and loss of consciousness.

The Ontario Fire Marshals Office local fire services [3] across the province are hosting events during this week.
