BELLEVILLE – The rising costs of the Build Belleville project could be made up for, according to a report to be received by city council on Monday.
The downtown revitalization portion of Build Belleville, that is currently under construction, will go $10 million over its original budget if all three phases are completed as planned.
But a new report from city staff suggests that there are ways to make up that money from the overall budget of $143 million to cover the unexpected costs. The report said that using some funding from other infrastructure projects that have gone under-budget, as well as utilizing new provincial and federal grants, could help account for the additional $10 million in costs for the project.
Planning for a new Belleville Police Service headquarters will also be on the agenda for Monday’s city council meeting.
QNet News will be on the scene to report from city council.
More to come.
