Ontario is honouring Canada’s fallen soldiers

By Rebecca Bartlett [1]

BELLEVILLE – More than 100 hundred thousand trees will be planted along the Highway of Heroes [2] starting in the spring of 2016.

They are to honour the men and women who have died in the line of duty. There will be one tree for each fallen soldier since Canada’s confederation in 1867.

The highway starts at CFB Trenton [3] and ends in Toronto. A total of 117,000 trees will be planted and will take five years to complete.

Forests Ontario [4] will plant the trees. They will also cover the costs of planting and maintaining the trees once they are in the ground.

More to come.
