Belleville city council to hear from public on development charges

By Joseph Quigley [1]

BELLEVILLE – City council will hold a special meeting Monday to receive public input [2] on increases to development charges that would help cover future capital costs.

Development charges are costs that developers pay to a city to build or expand within that city. These charges help pay for city services and infrastructure.

The city is proposing that residential development charges increase [3] from $9,614 to $11,379 per unit and non-residential charges increase from $4.19 to $4.53 per square foot.

The meeting takes place at 5 p.m. QNet News will report from the scene.

More to come.
