BELLEVILLE – A credit card scam is moving through Madoc [2], according to police.
On Wednesday, Central Hastings OPP [3] said it heard from two residents who said they received calls from someone offering lower interest rates on their credit cards.
The caller asked if the owner had a Visa or Mastercard and then asked for the card number in order to apply the lower rate.
Luckily, neither resident gave out their information.
The OPP asks that the public remain aware of both phone calls and emails that ask for personal information.
