Province honours Prince Edward County for economic development

By Matthew Murray [1]

BELLEVILLE – The Economic Developers Council of Ontario has recognized Prince Edward County for its work at building the local economy.

The awards were handed out at the organization’s annual President’s Awards banquet. They recognize local economic development initiatives that demonstrate excellence in various areas.

Prince Edward County won two awards for municipalities with a population between 10,000 and 50,000: one for advertising and one for best marketing publication. Mayor Robert Quaiff accepted the awards.

The advertising award was for the county’s Progress Redefined video [2]. It has been viewed over 7,500 times on YouTube since it was uploaded in November 2014.

The 2015 County Visitor Guide received the award for best marketing publication. Its goal was to attract potential visitors and residents to Prince Edward County by promoting food, wine, arts, events, heritage and cultural events. Over 140,000 copies of the visitor guide were printed and sent out through the LCBO’s Food & Drink magazine and the Globe and Mail in Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston and Montreal.
