BELLEVILLE – It’s not looking like a very merry Christmas for one local family.

The Lucas family is pleading for the public’s help to locate a cherished locket lost during last Sunday’s Santa Claus [3] parade. The locket is special as it contains the ashes of their infant daughter, Aneigha, who

passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome [4] in November of 2011.

Stephanie Lucas said she and her family just finished watching the annual parade downtown on Nov. 20 when her husband, Kyle, noticed his locket was gone. She posted an ad on Kijiji [5] earlier this week and wrote that she suspects the locket was lost somewhere on Front Street, possibly near a back alley near Moira, over the foot bridge or near Coleman Street.

Lucas said they both have their own lockets and they wore the lockets to the parade so they could take their daughter with them.

“We lost her 5 years ago, on November 20th, 2011 – we were supposed to go to the Santa Claus parade. And this year, November 20th ended up on a Sunday and was the Santa Claus parade,” she explains.

“That’s why we decided to wear them that night. We couldn’t take her five years ago on this day, so this is the next best thing.”

The locket is sterling silver and described as an oval-shaped urn with a “simple engraved design”.

Anyone with information is asked to respond to the Kijiji ad [6].
