Belleville Alzheimer’s Society offers music to help patients cope

By Martin Allen [1]

BELLEVILLE  – The Belleville Alzheimer’s Society is offering iPods to patients, citing the benefits music can have on the brain.

The devices can be borrowed for as long as patients like.

Each participant is given an iPod Shuffle [2], a music selection pre-loaded on the device of their choosing, headphones and a charger.

“The Music for Me program provides individuals with personalized music to stimulate their memory and engage them through auditory stimulus, supporting self expression and identity,” according to the Alzheimer’s Society of Hastings-Prince Edward.

QNet News will be talking to the society about the program.
