OPP watching Seymour Conservation Area after reports of drug, alcohol use

By Lindsey Harren [1]

BELLEVILLE – The Northumberland OPP will be watching the Seymour Conservation area [2] after reports of alcohol and drug use there.

The OPP said in a press release Monday that patrols will run until April to combat illegal activity in the Campbellford park.

Marilyn Buckholtz, communication and outreach co-ordinator for Lower Trent Conservation [3], said the agency welcomes the help from the police.

The Seymour Conservation Area is for day use and does not have any full-time staff, Buckholz said. Without a gate on the area, people have been known to come into the park at all hours, she added.

The conservation authority will be receiving updates from the Northumberland OPP about their patrol, she ssaid.
