BELLEVILLE – A woman was taken to Kingston General Hospital [2] Wednesday with serious injuries after a large tree blown over by high winds landed on the car she was driving.
The accident occurred at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bridge Street East and William Street [3], according to the Belleville police.
When the tree fell, it knocked a high-voltage power line, causing 873 homes in the area to lose power, according to Veridian Connections [4].
Emergency crews from Veridian worked for several hours to restore power. The last homes didn’t get their power back until 3 a.m. Thursday, a Veridian spokesman told QNet News.
