BELLEVILLE — A number of sheep, cows and dogs died in a barn fire just west of Brighton early Thursday morning.
Three separate fire departments responded to the fire. Cramahe Township, Trent Hills and Brighton were all called to the scene.
When the Brighton fire department arrived the barn had collapsed and they were working on containing it, says Brighton fire chief Lloyd Hutchinson.
The Brighton department aided the other two departments by bringing 18 more firefighters along with another tanker and a rescue truck.
Hutchison did not know the exact numbers of animals that died.
The crew was able to rescue one dog who received oxygen on the scene and is now at the veterinary clinic.
