The stars of the Bubble Guppies animated children’s TV show on Nickelodeon are hitting the stage for their second live-action tour, called Ready to Rock. It comes to the Empire Theatre April 27.
Patti Caplette, the concerts’ director and choreographer, says there are minor changes since the 2015 tour, but the show has stayed pretty much the same.
“The essence is still there. It’s just stronger and bigger.”
The Bubble Guppies TV show for children is set under the sea in a town called Bubbletucky, where all the inhabitants are underwater creatures.
The characters, including preschool mer-people, attend underwater school together. They learn about science, math, anatomy and art, along with other lessons with fun songs.
The tour started in British Columbia and is currently in Nova Scotia. Once the east coast shows are done, it will make its way back west, finishing in Toronto.
The tour “is keeping the magic alive,” says Caplette, as she talks about the energy between the actors and audience.
Stars Gil and Molly, along with their underwater pet, Bubble Puppy, host the show.
“This is absolutely the family show to come to,” Caplette told QNet News. “It’s a great way to share the theatrical experience with your kids, aunts, uncles, grandmas, whatever, because it crosses all ages. The music is engaging, and no one is going to fall asleep in this show, that’s for sure!”
The Empire Theatre show starts at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $26.50 plus tax and ticket service fees for online purchases.
