Fatal collision on Highway 401 closes westbound traffic for six hours

BELLEVILLE – A 70-year-old woman died as a result of a collision between an SUV and a car just west of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road on Highway 401 Wednesday afternoon.

Irene Savdie-Buenavida, of Montreal, was pronounced dead at the scene. The OPP reported in an updated news release, the driver and front passenger of the car were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the SUV was unharmed. Both the Quinte West OPP and the Napanee OPP were on scene at the accident.

The westbound lane of Highway 401 was closed for six hours while the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators completed their investigation.
