BELLEVILLE –  A man from Trenton has been charged after impersonating a member of the Canadian military in an online dating profile.

Police responded to a call on Sept. 22 from the female victim about a theft complaint in Loyalist Township.

Police said that 36-year-old man and the victim met through an online dating profile where he posed as a soldier. He befriended the victim online and within a month moved into her house and began stealing money from her.

The man faces charges of personating a peace officer, five counts of theft, and fail to appear for bail hearing.
