Opposition leader Tim Hudak visited a Belleville family Monday to point out how the McGuinty government is overtaxing Ontario families.

Hudak and Prince Edward-Hasting MPP candidate Todd Smith met with Greg and Karlie Cowie for a brief conversation and a photo opportunity.

Hudak said the health tax, HST, eco-taxes and hydro bills are making it harder for families in Ontario to make ends meet.

His attack on the McGuinty government is part of Change Book, a Conservative campaign strategy with a social media, Facebook themed twist.

Hudak was in Peterborough early Monday morning before making a trip to Belleville. He’s revving up for Ontario’s 40th general election on October 6.

According to a Forum Research Inc. poll, the Conservatives have 41% of support amongst decided voters; a percentage leaning the Conservatives toward a majority government.

“The polls will go up and down, and there will be a lot of polls between now and the election day,” said Hudak. “Here’s the bottom line. Whether I’m here in Belleville talking to Karlie and Greg or back home in Niagara, Ontario, I’m just hearing more and more people who are looking for change.”

Conservative candidate Todd Smith will be running against incumbent Liberal MPP Leona Dombrowsky, Sherry Hayes for the New Democratic Party and Treat Hull of the Green Party.

Smith said he joined fellow Conservative candidates in 107 ridings across the province for the Blue Blitz campaign last weekend.
