BELLEVILLE – With Black Friday upon us, QNet News spoke to two students about how they’re using it to prepare for Christmas.

Morgan Newson is young mother who balances her time between school and her parental duties. She’s a community and justice services student at Loyalist.
She said that her Black Friday shopping plans included purchasing toys for her daughter, household items and clothes for her mother.
“I know Black Friday is a chance at some amazing deals on items for Christmas. It’s like a big flash sale,” Morgan said.
“I plan to purchase toys for my daughter, she’s almost five.”
Morgan said that she normally starts her Christmas shopping in the summertime but also makes more purchases around November and closer to when Christmas time approaches.
“I think I make myself crazy by doing that, but it’s those last few things you just want to have and they also have great deals you can’t beat,” Morgan said.
Morgan said that she and her mother love to spend time together going shopping and that she prefers going out of town to do so. She said that she really enjoys the Northumberland Mall [2] in Cobourg and that her favorite clothing store there is Urban Planet.
Morgan said that the most memorable Black Friday purchase that she made was a Sofia mirror and chalkboard standup makeup set that was a gift for her daughter.

Ali Nardo, 26, is a second year film and television production student.
Unlike Newson, Nardo, prefers to shop online rather than to shop at stores.
Nardo said that her initial plan was to put a bunch of stuff in her Amazon shopping cart and wait until Friday to see what the prices were.
But she’s not avoiding stores entirely.
“I’m probably going to go out this weekend and see what’s available in stores,” Nardo said.
She said that she does most of her Christmas shopping just before Christmas time and that she also has a vast variety of items that she still needs to purchase for Christmas which includes gifts for her family, her boyfriend, and her parents.
“No specific gifts but that it varies from jewelry, watches, clothing to some gaming stuff, to some Bratz stuff and Monster High dolls, to Marvel characters,” Nardo said.
She’s hoping she’ll be able to find most of that stuff this weekend.
