Web development courses to be offered at Loyalist College

  • July 29, 2011 at 11:39 am

Students at Loyalist College  can become more web savvy through two new web development programs being offered this fall.

Loyalist’s School of Continuing Education is listing a three-semester Internet Application and Web Development Fundamentals certificate program and a five-semester diploma.

Manager of Continuing Education Trudie Lake said these programs will be offered online.

“There is a high demand from both potential students and employers for the skills training these programs provide,” said Lake. “We’re excited to be able to offer them online, making them accessible to learners near and far. Those planning to pursue employment in this field will need to be adept web users and this delivery mode will help them develop that proficiency.”

Dean of Skills Training, Access and Continuing Education Tom Malloy said the new programs are complimentary to any field of study at Loyalist College.

“Today, it is rare for a business or industry not to have an expanding need for a strategic and adaptable web presence. With this marketing shift comes the need for skilled professionals to manoeuver the intricacies of the internet,” said Malloy.

The program provides students with the skills to work with computer software development firms, information technology consulting firms, graphic design agencies and information technology units in the private and public sectors.
