  • April 18, 2018 at 12:25 pm

By Michael Fleming

BELLEVILLE – Residents of Prince Edward County will have a chance Thursday to see a plan for expanded public transportation.

Two open houses about the transit project are taking place, one in Wellington and one in Picton.

Over the past year, the County and the County Foundation have been working with the Prince Edward County Transportation Project Steering Committee to a develop a plan for the future of transportation in the area. The open houses will begin with a presentation of the results of the planning to the community before it is brought before county council.

Representatives for Deseronto Transit, Quinte Access and the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association will be at both events to answer questions from the public. Free rides to the events will be provided through Quinte Access and Deseronto Transit. Anyone who wishes to take advantage of these rides is asked to contact one of the two services.

The open house in Wellington will take place at the Wellington and District Community Centre from 2 to 4 p.m. The event in Picton will be held at the Prince Edward Community Centre from 5 to 7 p.m.
