BELLEVILLE  — Two forwards – a returning player and a new face who was in the NHL last year – will be joining the Belleville Senators, the team announced today.

Paul Carey [2] and Jim O’Brien [3] will be playing for the BSens in their second year in the American Hockey League as the farm team for the Ottawa Senators.

O’Brien played 60 games with Belleville last year, netting 13 goals and 29 points. He also got a chance to play for the Ottawa Senators, where he had an assist over 10 games.

He was on waivers during the off-season but cleared them and will be joining the BSens for training camp and playing for the team for the foreseeable future.

Carey was picked up as a free agent by Ottawa in a two-way contract that allows him to play for the BSens. He got seven goals and 14 points over 60 games last season with the New York Rangers.

The BSens’ season starts Saturday, Oct. 6, with a game in Utica, N.Y., against the Utica Comets. Their home opener is Oct. 17 against the Binghamton (N.Y.) Devils.
